Ron entered the insurance business in 1969 and began specializing in disability insurance. As the opportunity presented itself, Ron moved to Houston, Texas in 1973.
In Houston, he achieved notoriety and the respect of his peers nationally. During this period, Ron became one of the Charter Member RHU's (Registered Health Underwriters), a designation accredited by the National Association of Health Underwriters.
In 1977 he began his own firm, Ron Cohen Insurance, Inc., a disability firm with an original concept. No tie to one company. We will serve the client, not the company. The product must serve and fit the client’s needs.
In 1977 Ron founded the Houston Association of Health Underwriters and to date, is the only President to have served two terms. Also serving as a Texas State Board member of the Texas Association of Health Underwriters.

He has been a guest speaker for many insurance companies, societies, clubs, and several Disability Income Training Council meetings.
He has been a consultant to several insurers in the design of their disability products as well as authored many articles on the subject.
In 2005 alone, he authored 13 articles for nationally known magazines, journals and publications and was written about in an additional 7 publications.
Ron has been awarded the National Association of Health Underwriters Lifetime Presidents Achievement Diamond Award.
The "Professor", (a name given him by his clients,) believes in always learning new ways to provide his clients with choices, and knowledge. "The more you know, the more dangerous I am." "I like clients that want to know more, ask more, and demand more."
My Statement
"For the past 40 years, I can honestly say, there is only one thing I am certain of. and that is change. My job is knowledge, finding the companies, products and uses to best fit the dentist. Protect their assets, and keep them out of harm's way. Let them get back to what they really know, dentistry".
